Electric Lighting Agencies, Inc. was founded in 1955. The company’s original name was Electric Agencies and has since grown to be the oldest and most successful lighting manufacturer’s representative in the New York Metropolitan area.

ELA currently has approximately 45 employees and operates from two locations; New York City and Jericho Long Island. Each office is staffed to assist the lighting and controls community with creative and technical solutions for specific project applications.

Electric Lighting Agencies has a long standing tradition of excellence and professional representation and continues to grow by providing products of quality and integrity. The company’s success has been structured by its exceptional loyal base of qualified employees providing unsurpassed service to our valued customers.

In 2019/2020, the agency established a “new beginning” by adding John Weintraub and Brian Labbe to its ownership team, representing 50 of the worlds top specification lines covering every segment of the lighting and controls market.

Electric Lighting Agencies (ELA) was established in Florida in August of 2022 prompted by the catalyst of picking up the Hubbell/Current package in this market.

To accomplish the South Florida branch of ELA, we partnered with Brian Slater from Slater Lighting. Brian and the Slater Lighting team established their business May of 2011. Starting with just five decorative brands, the team grew organically each year through outstanding service and honest pricing.

Their company slogan is “Lighting is our business. Service is our passion.” This attitude and continued success made them a natural fit for partnership, and the expansion of the ELA brand. We are excited to leverage the rich history and expertise of our New York office with the young and service-oriented team around Brian, to launch ELA powered by Slater Lighting in the South Florida market.
